In the early days we would do anything to get our name out there, appearing at little hotels and small craft fairs and village halls. Anything to be seen, anything to generate a booking or 2, giving us a base to build from.
However, as time has gone on and we have become an established business in the events industry we find the need to do these shows has diminished. And of course, in the past 10 years the landscape has changed, and so much can now be achieved with the use of social media and good old Google!
There are a few shows that we do however, enjoy being a part of.
In recent years we have only done the BIC Wedding showcase, every February, put in a twice yearly appearance at the beautiful Greenhouse Hotel in Bournemouth (where we are the recommended supplier of photo booths that fir their eco ethos), and the Big Southwest Wedding Show set in the massive Bath & West Show ground in Shepton Mallet.
It's this twice yearly show that gets us out of bed early on a Friday morning and not back in it again until the Sunday evening.
And whilst we only do one of the 2 shows per year, it's always a delight.
With almost 100 suppliers it really is a big show, with great variety too.
Whenever we appear at the show we like to make sure we take a great selection of the unusual booths we provide.
This time around we had 3 fantastic pods on hand, our rustic gamer arcade machine, the Old Bench Photo Booth and introduced our newest creation, the Von Braun booth.
We don't know how many guests past through our stand, or how many stopped to have picture taken, but it was LOTS!
As always the reception to our booths was fantastic, with the most common comment of 'wow, I've never seen a booth like that before' heard just a little more than once or twice.
This year its tough to call what had the most attention, but it was a close call between our Rustic Gamer and the Selfie Pods, where many a boomerang was created...
We are going to talk a little more about our newest booth 'Von Braun' in a later blog, but for its first time out we think it looked great, and despite a little tech issue or 2, which was to be expected, it ran like a dream.
So after a few busy weeks of preparing for the show and the show its self, we now need to get set for a couple of weddings this week, heading the lovely Eastington Park for the first time this year and then on to Orchardleigh House. Two big weddings to finish off October.
Then for us after that, its a slightly quieter few weeks before the Xmas rush begins, for which we still have availability with our fantastic range of Selfie Pods, so be sure to get in touch!
